Esperanza Ortega (Palencia, 1953) has a degree in Romance Philology and she is a retired high school teacher. She has published five books of poems, among which we highlight Hilo solo (Visor), Lo que va a ser de ti (Plaza Janés) and Como si fuera una palabra (Lúmen). In 2009 she published her childhood and youth memories: Las cosas como eran (2009). She has collaborated in poetry journals, has been co-director of the magazine "El signo del gorrión" of Valladolid, in addition to directing the "Vuelapluma" collection of Editorial Edilesa. In addition, she has collaborated with articles and interviews in the newspapers El País, ABC, El Norte de Castilla and El Mundo. She has also written about art in exhibition catalogues. She is married to fellow writer Gustavo Martín Garzo.
