A long time ago, in a valley divided into two parts by a long river coming from the mountains, there were two kingdoms who hated each other. And one winter night, both kingdoms decided to conquer each other. As all the people of the first kingdom crossed the Eastern bridge, the people of the second kingdom crossed the Westerd bridge. And by the time they arrived, as it was late and snowing, they decided to sleep in their oponents’ houses. Each combatant chose the house that looked most like his own house in the other kingdom. That day the king of the first kingdom and the queen of the other one, began negotiating, but as days passed, they reached no agreement. As time went by, the new inhabitants started fixing their new homes and making them more their own. One afternoon the old father of the blacksmith crossed the bridge to fetch something he had left in his old home. As he arrived in time for dinner, the new family living in his house, invited him to stay for dinner. From that day on, people started crossing the river, some returned to their old home, some kept the new one, while others decided to all live together. And the king and queen were still negotiating, but nobody could care less! People were moving like water in the river, that is fresh in Spring time when the thaw begins.
