Fernando Vilela was born in São Paulo, Brazil. He is an awarded children book author and illustrator, plastic artist, designer and an educator. With more than sixty books illustrated, he is the recipient of many awards (White Raven, Mention in the New Horizon Bologna Ragazzi Award, Ibby, FNLIJ, Jabuti...). He has had his books published by several important Brazilian, British, French, Mexican, Canadian publishers. Not only has Fernando Vilela worked as a book writer and illustrator, but he has had his art works exhibited in many art galleries in Brazil and abroad.
