Based on character studies for the 1953 ballet A Cangaceira, drawn by the artist Flávio de Carvalho, Canton creates poems that seek to reflect the expressiveness and magic of each character. Image and text unite in recreating allegorical figures, such as the bourgeois, the politician, the pharmacist, the newly-wed, the vegetal being, the sorceress, the man saint, the phantom of the vegetable garden, the bandit, the women of the people and mythological beings.
